Our History

Onion River Animal Hospital was founded in 1983 by Dr. Colleen Bloom, when she moved to Vermont to escape the city life.

Her first task was to transform an old 19th century barn into a veterinary hospital.

Today Onion River Animal Hospital is a small, full-service animal hospital that has seen steady growth over the last 30+ years.

Dr. Karen Bradley and Dr. Lauren Quinn joined the practice in 2000 and became co-owners with Dr. Bloom in 2003.

Working alongside the practice owners are practice manager Erin Preston (since 1998) and administrator Karen Weston (since 1991). Our support staff consists of 5 additional veterinarians and 20 client care coordinators, veterinary nurses, and animal care assistants.

In 2017, ORAH moved to our new location in Berlin on Airport Road. ORAH has since become accredited through the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and is the first Fear Free Certified Practice in the State of Vermont.
